Hi John,

A question on entering the worlds.

If I pay to enter this summer and then my employer does not give me the time off in 2011 would I get a refund of my entry fee?

Thanks

Howard

Howard
This is a good question. What we have said up to now is that we [TAUK] will make every effort to resell a place to ensure that anyone who has paid early is not out of pocket to any substantial amount. The idea (up to a point) was to allocate the next entrant as a substitute for the cancellation and refund as much as possible to the earlier entrant.

We are considering a formal refund policy, but as you will understand there are significant fixed costs and risks associated with setting up a Worlds and we have to be careful not to expose the association to financial risk it has insufficient funds to cover.

I personally have insufficient experience of events such as this to know the rate of cancelation to expect and hence it is difficult to calculate and protect against the risk.

Thank you for the question it has promoted me to progress this matter more quickly.
